The first round of the 37th Annual Junior America's Cup at the hallowed grounds of the 103 year old Annandale Golf Club is in the books. The beautiful, but difficult, Annandale Golf Club was a true test of golf today. Golf course Superintendent Ed Kutt has the grounds in amazing condition and the greens rolling fast and true. The 6600 yard par 70 layout yielded no rounds under par in the first round of competition.

Three players were able to at least match par and share the first round lead. Dylan Stensland of Snohomish, WA, Alex McMahon of Oro Valley, AZ and Todd Baek of San Diego, CA all share the first round lead. US Junior Amateur Runner-Up Jay Hwang of San Diego currently sits in eleventh place with a first round score of 73. In the elite 68 player field, sixteen players, including Hwang, are within three shots of the early lead.

British Columbia fired a team best five over par to claim the team lead on day one by a single shot over San Diego. Justin Shin of Maple Ridge, BC led the team with a one over par 71 and the team followed that lead with a pair of 72's for their 215 total. The strong San Diego contingent sits one shot back at 216, led by Todd Baek. Nevada finds themselves two shots back at 217. Yuki Kato of Las Vegas and Andrew Mims of Reno led the Nevada team with a pair of 71's.
